Bagels & Schmears
We don't feel like we're boasting when we say these are the best bagels in Australia. We labour hard to get them right, from a two day cold-fermentation process to using the best malt we can get our hands on, and, of course, boiling. Unlike the majority of bagels out there, we never steam our bagels, so they're rustic and chewy, the way the original New York and Polish artisan bakers intended.
On we offer home deliveries via Food by Us. Delivery costs varies, but is $5 for all locations within 20km of our Marrickville bakery, and free for orders over $80.
Our bagels are:
- Vegan & Dairy-Free
- Sugar-free (excluding cinnamon raisin or blueberry)
We accept orders two days in advance before 3pm. For example, Sunday orders need to be place before 3pm on Friday. This is due to our two-day artisan bagel-making process. We make all bagels to order.
If you would prefer to pick up your order (and save on shipping!) you can do so at our Marrickville Bakery on weekdays, or from one of our farmers markets from Wednesday to Sunday. Please let us know which market you would like to pick up from when you place your order in the notes section.

Take several different doughs, of every colour in the rainbow, and twist them all together. What you get is a bagel that's screaming for Instagram fame! It has only the faintest hint of added sweetness, so it plays nicely with sweet or savoury toppings. Unicorns and 100s & 1000s, optional.
Seinfeld spent a whole episode arguing over the last chocolate babka, so we wanted to create a single-sized version worth fighting for. Instead of the classic chocolate babka loaf – a sweet brioche that's a classic of Eastern Europe and Jewish bakeries – we've loaded ours up with Nutella and toasted hazelnuts, and created a miniature version for one person, so you won't have to share!
Note: This is not a full-sized loaf. It is a single serve piece. No kvetching if you thought you were buying a big kuchen for the whole family.
Our gluten-free bagels don't just taste great, they're also dairy-free, egg-free and vegan. We use a mix of besan (chickpea flour), tapioca flour, rice flour, malt and more to make sure our gluten-free friends don't miss out on a great bagel experience.
(Note: We do have coeliacs who swear by our product, but please note that we do make these in a bakery where yeast is present.)
New Yorkers love big, fresh pretzels, so we've made our own artisan version that's a big fresher than those dense twists you get from a Times Square pushcart. We've made it using classic German techniques, given it lots of natural flavour and a no-bulls**t topping of fine rock salt. Beer or melted cheese dip optional.
